NS90 Techfest

NS90s yearly review week took a new direction this year with the inaugural NS90 Techfest which was a week for the company to take a step back from the day to day workload and analyse what we have achieved over the year as well as areas to improve moving forward. The week culminated in the Innovative Project Competition.

The competition allowed people to work across teams in a way they would not normally be able to giving complete freedom of approach. This proved to be extremely productive with all teams delivering working demos in areas of high interest to the business. The competition was of such a high standard that a winner could not be singled out - and plans are afoot to implement these as part of the product backlog.

Along with the innovation projects, a number of forums were held over the week which generally comprised of a recap of the area before open and honest discussions about approaches and changes that need to be made. It became clear at these forums that while we have come a long way and got many things right, it is time for us to raise the bar on our standards and to move to the next level of maturity across all areas of the organisation.

Finally on the Friday a fun filled day was organised at Ballyhass Lakes in North Cork with both land based and water based team building activities followed by an exciting and exhilarating Axe Throwing Competition which went down to the very last axe throw - not quite like that! All this was followed with a meal and drinks and Irish dancing in the Oliver Plunkett in Cork City.
